Wrapping it up in New Mexico

I've taken a few more photos of the park.  See below.  The kids, Isaiah and Adalyn, are the grandchildren of the owners.  They live on the ranch with their parents.

As you can see in these photos, the days are mostly bright sunshine.  We've had a few days with impressive winds and blowing sand so it's pointless to dust (it's pointless to dust under any circumstances).

We are heading to Long Beach CA, with the earlier referenced stop at Phoenix for Mike to fly back to KC.  Our "cousins" Mike and Bob Cornner will spend a day with us.  Looking forward to seeing them as it has been 8-10 years and none of us are getting any younger.  We will zoom into Albuquerque this weekend to see Wyatt, Michelle, Taylor and Madison before we leave the area.  (Just want to see that Wyatt is recovering from his motorcycle accident and Michelle is recovering from her Thanksgiving surgery.)

We took a day last week and drove to Silver City, about 50 miles north in the mountains.  Billy the Kid spent part of his childhood there, before he moved to Lincoln County and became an outlaw.  It's a fun town which looks pretty much frozen in the 1930's.  Oddly enough, there's a gourmet class restaurant called the Curious Kumquat whose chef has a PhD in psychology.  He decided he liked cooking more than analysis.

There's a state park between Deming and Silver City that's well worth the time.  Thirty-five million years ago a volcano erupted for perhaps a couple of years, raining ash and cinders up to 50 feet deep.  Over the millenia, the softer places eroded, leaving these strange formations behind.
